dusty window
Noticed this in front of me while stopped at a stop sign yesterday in Carmel. Can't say I've ever seen such a creative use of a dirty window.

land and sea
This is a view from the coast south of Carmel. It's the exact same vista the Ohlone Indians looked out on when they lived in this spot in the 1700s -- a fact that makes me feel very small in a good sort of way. Watery Wednesday has an entire sea of H20 images.

little dog
Taken at a local dog show in Carmel Valley. I appreciate the fact that everybody has their thing in life, but dog show culture is something I've never quite been able to grasp.

the violinist
This was taken at the Monterey Marina plaza. When I walked by the first time he was playing "America the Beautiful." On my way back he was playing Bach.

Baby Seagull
He fell out of his nest near Cannery Row. A good samaritan took him in and later someone from the SPCA came out with a ladder and put him back in his nest. For some reason I thought a baby seagull looked ..not like this. Photo courtesy my friend Jerry Takigawa (the good samaritan).

Begonias
Came across this field of begonias on my way to the local dump (aka "environmental park"). It appeared suddenly as I was driving along an otherwise mundane bush-lined road, then disappeared just as quickly behind a hill.

56 Chevy
Spotted at the '50s and '60s Cherries Jubilee car show. Love the modern amenities: Clock. Radio. Bakelite knobs. Cruise over to Weekend Reflections for other mirrored images from around the world.

the beach club
Taken in Pebble Beach after enjoying a cobb salad poolside as a guest. The lush life, I must say. And just in time for Watery Wednesday.

Tile Mural
This is part of a 36 foot tile mural on the outside of the Monterey Convention Center by artist
Guillermo Wagner Granizo. It’s a chronological history of the city, packed with everything from the Spaniards who arrived in the 1600s to modern suburbanites.

Library Parking
Taken outside the Monterey Public Library, where the owner of the shopping cart is a regular patron. He parks his cart along with the bicycles which appears to be a nicely democratic arrangement.

we all live in a
This mysterious yellow vessel has been is in a vacant lot above Cannery Row for many years. No one seems to know if it's an actual submarine or some remnant from the sardine cannery days painted to look like one.

Labor Day
Found this in Castroville (farming town near Monterey) painted by Will Northcutt. It's on the side of the Giant Artichoke Restaurant and Fruit Stand which features every sort of artichoke delicacy you can imagine from quiched to fried. Bonus point question of the day: Who was Castroville's first Artichoke Festival Queen back in the late 1940s?

Forest Theater
Since the 1920s the outdoor Forest Theater in Carmel has been staging local summer productions under the stars. "Alice in Wonderland" which just wrapped up, was a good one.
